The painted dogs (aka African wild dogs, cape hunting dogs), are incredibly social and curious animals who are devoted to the friendship and camaraderie of within their pack. They form strong bonds, showing care and support to pack members who may be ill or weak. Intelligent communication helps them through all walks of life, whether it’s hunting for food, understanding family roles or locating safety. Despite this will to work together and survive, they now find themselves on the critically endangered species list.

World painted dog day is an opportunity for african dog lovers to understand the need for conservation efforts designed to increase their population numbers, and to reduce the effects of rampant snaring.

3 painted dog fun facts: painted dogs are pack hunters, living in groups of up to 15 members, often up to 11 years of age.  they have incredible hearing, with muscles that allow their large, rounded ears to swivel.  if a dog gets lost or separated from the group, it makes a sound, like a bell, called a “hoo” call.

Sounding like a flock of songbirds, the dogs fill the morning air with excited chirps and twitters as the family pack gears up for the first hunt of the day. Pack members run shoulder to shoulder, and then pause to leap over and dive under each other. They appear to “kiss” one another, licking and poking at the corners of each other’s mouths. their energetic jumping and play-fighting secures their social bonding within the pack.

To capture the essence of the sociable African dog, our fragrance is infused with a blend of citrus, spices, and tobacco leaves, on top of a smooth woody base. hints of bergamot and lemon give way to amber and sage. resinous oud wood, dark musk, and tobacco leaf ground this fragrance with an earthy base — musky with a rich citrus sweetness that suggests a moody feel while conjuring a sense of play and the unexpected.
